The main goals of this event where to 1.) empower female students to explore careers in STEM, 2.) show the impact that women in STEM fields can have, and 3.) allow female and male students to interact with women working in STEM fields.
The “Women in STEM” event was held on February 28, 2019 from 8:00 am to 9:00 am. 200 female and male students to attended. Our keynote speaker was Dr Bonnie Howell who is the Executive Director of Diseases and Vaccines at Merck. The keynote speech was followed by three small round-table discussion sessions where male and female students had an opportunity to interact with women working in statistics, information management, computer science, infectious diseases, biochemical engineering, scientific writing, neuromuscular medicine, environmental science, forensic science, optometry, industrial engineering, and mechanical engineering.
